Down comforter - lightweight while effective at keeping you warm

Down comforters come in a range of weights and fill amounts which will determine how warm they are to sleep under.  The heavier the weight, the more fill, the warmer the comforter will be.  The way to determine the quality is down is with the fill power score.  The high the fill power score, the stronger and larger the cluster of down in your comforter.  The benefit of larger clusters is that it breaths better and provides better insulation.

When buying your new down comforter, consider covering it with a duvet.  A duvet cover will protect your comforter similar to how a pillow case protects your pillows.  It is much easier to wash your duvet than to clean your down comforter.  You can also buy duvet covers in a variety of styles and designs to match your room's décor and add some color to your home.
